News from the Hampshire Archives
Events Join us on Saturday 16th September for Heritage Open Day as we explore Arts in the Archive! We’re opening our doors for a day of family friendly activities. At intervals throughout the event we will be offering fun, interactive story-telling sessions and live music from The Madding Crowd. Explore the wonderful world of arts in the archives, from music, poetry, sketches and film to the creative ways that conservators bring historic documents back to life. Onsite you will be able to visit our pop-up cinema in the courtyard garden, along with stalls and exhibits from some of our partners, including Hampshire Genealogical Society, Hampshire Archives Trust, Hampshire Field Club and
Victoria County History, all of which share our passion for Hampshire’s history! Our programme of events into the autumn is online at What's on at Hampshire Archives – Hampshire County Council (hants.gov.uk), so if you are looking for something to do as the evenings draw in, book now for Behind the Scenes Tours, maps and local history. In our foyer from 5 September to 25 October, during opening times, you can see ‘Post Holes, Purlins, Pillow Mounds and Parish Records, the story of Hampshire Field Club.’ For more news and snippets about our work, follow us on social media – links at the foot of our web pages Hampshire Archives and Local Studies – Hampshire County Council (hants.gov.uk) .
