Up to 1913, there were 30,000 accidents the staff suggested practical ideas to avoid accidents but the railway companies were reluctant to spend money. More publicity was given if the accident was to passengers, the implication being workers were careless. The project is a collaboration between The National Railway Museum, Modern Records Centre at Warwick University and the National Archives. Researchers at the University of Portsmouth are making previously underused accident reports more accessible. Forthcoming Meetings:

A study of Silk Postcards dealing with the manufacturing history and embroidery styles of these richly designed items and the part they played during the First World War (1914-18). The talk was supported by Neil's own vast collection of cards and considers case studies involving the recipient and sender of various cards, detailing the family and social history surrounding them.
