Alton Meetings are normally held monthly on the second Monday at 7:30 p.m. in All Saints Church Hall, Queens Road, Alton.

(February) The small Alton group had to have a house meeting as the hall has been having on-and-off boiler problems for the last couple of months. The topics discussed covered a wide range of subjects such as the local Smeeth family, records relating to Dunkirk, postcards and photos, and families in South America and South Africa. and

Andover Meetings are normally held on the second Thursday, September to July, commencing 7.30p.m. at The Fairground Hall, Weyhill, Andover SP11 0QN (March) Members evening – ‘A family tragedy’ and Panel Q&A Our first in-person meeting of the year was in two parts.

Firstly, we sat around tables in groups of six to exchange stories of a family tragedy. People took the opportunity to bring in newspaper cuttings, papers and photographs and to tell stories of those people in our family trees that met an unfortunate end. Tales included: • A young man fatally shot when putting down his loaded shotgun, c1800 • A farm worker who lost a thumb when bitten by a horse – but who gradually became unwell and tied of tetanus • Suicides
