(December) The meeting went well with mince pies and crackers, mulled wine on offer for those not driving and a couple of new faces. There was a chance to open up the discussion about where we were at in our researches. Particularly from Tony Sinclair, the Group Leader, who spoke about his father and his grandfather both being at Dunkirk - unbeknown to each other, with his father a soldier being rescued and grandfather turning up in one of the small ships with an A3 binder dedicated to his father's Army Record. Another member took an old recipe book that had 3x great grandmother's wedding cake recipe in it. She was a cook in a large house before she married. Forthcoming Meetings:

April 1st 10:00 am: Ideas for researching Non-Conformist ancestors Jackie Depelle. Many of our ancestors favoured a wide range of different denominations. Watch for signposts, discover where can we might find their records and see what will they tell us. June 7th 8:00 pm: Parish Records Ian Waller As the parish authorities were responsible for many aspects of administration besides the keeping of baptism, marriage and burial records, the wealth of information contained within the records of the "parish chest" are essential for family history. This talk examines just what is available and how they will enhance the information and social scene relating to your ancestors’ lives.
