NIck compared the passion & enthusiasm in rummaging around where celebrities enjoy a bit of scandal in their history. He firmly believes that you must look at the history of the locations & go to where things happened to get the feel of the real history. You need to dig deep to form a picture as a lot of the archive can be airbrushed out but viewers would prefer to see the reality of the research and to understand the horror or truth of the history. At the start of the programmes, the idea was to have ten subjects who fitted the back stories. They needed people who didn’t know a lot of their back story. The subjects were asked to provide a family member who could help but no contact could be had between the subject and the family member until the programme was finally aired. They can’t also see the script as it would destroy the surprise element of the episode. The reveal has to be genuine - surprise! Forthcoming Meetings:

(April) An armed incident at Barton on Sea – Nick Saunders This talk reveals what happened on the beach at Naish, Barton on Sea in 1825 when smugglers and Revenue men came into conflict. It gives an overview of smuggling on the Hampshire coast at that time. It looks at some of the men involved in the incident and what happened to them. It ends in Winchester Assizes where the details of the incident were reported in the newspapers of the time. Forthcoming Meetings:
