Meetings are normally at 7:15pm on 3rd Thursdays in the Littleton Millennium Hall. (August) Members Evening.

Although there was no formal meeting in August, the Members Meeting gave a chance to exchange ideas and plans. There was support for more experienced members to help others in how to look up someone in databases subscribed to. We also heard of some recent discoveries in members’ researches. Winchester is very fortunate in using a hall that has good IT connections and Tony Sinclair, with a little family help, has set up a proactive hybrid meeting with a few tweeks will mean we are open for live meetings that can be Zoomed out or in with an audience as well. It was a challenge but it works and we should be in a much better place for the future especially as we will be able to still welcome members from overseas and other parts of the UK. Not to mention a wider choice of speakers. There was support too for a future members meeting of more experienced members helping others for example, in looking someone up in databases subscribed to. This has been included in the 2022 programme. (September) The HGS Website – Elaine Boyes. Elaine was the first to test this technology when she spoke from the hall, in September about the HGS website and what it can offer to members as well as a good resource for non members too. She drew attention to the information at the bottom of the opening page. Members can use their password to access and amend their personal details, as well as registering names of interest which could link to others following the same research. She advised that we keep checking as there are new updates regularly. The Journal is on there too and she emphasised that articles are always welcome. Elaine bubbled over with her infectious enthusiasm and especially for the books that can be bought on line, but of course she didn’t miss the opportunity for a book stall at the meeting, with village booklets which proved so popular as well as many other books.
