Ros Boon reports: (February) Exploring the National Archives – Les Mitchinson Romsey Meetings normally take place on the first Monday of the month (except Bank Holidays) at Crosfield Hall, Romsey, at 7.30 p.m. Newcomers are welcome. All meetings for the foreseeable future will by Zoom.

Les gave us an enthusiastic talk about the TNA, its history and how to navigate its vast collection. He took us on a guided tour of the building, told us how to obtain a reader’s ticket and advocated use of their fine library, and restaurant, before telling us that only about 1% of their holding is digitised; therefore, a visit is recommended. Camera-usage is free, as is access to Ancestry and other sites whether you have a paid account or not. Digitised records are free to send home these would be chargeable if you did the reverse and
