Fareham Meetings are normally held from 7.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Wallington Village Hall, Broadcut, Fareham.

(January] Sons of the Soil – Janet Few Janet gave a fascinating and informative Zoom presentation on Sons of the Soil – the agricultural labourers most of us find in our research. They are described by many job titles in documents, ag lab, Farm labourer, hind, husbandman, crofter, etc. Women also worked in the fields. Janet Few gave us several web sites to use to look up information about our ag labs, as well as mentioning many useful aids which would provide valuable information such as Newspapers which would hold reports of farm sales, agricultural shows and fairs and accidents in the area an ancestor lived. School log books can hold useful information as they mention absence caused by harvesting, weather or local fairs. Janet suggested we look on her website for further ideas and information.
