Spider was formed in 2014 with the ambition of providing an exceptional service to our clients. Our dedication to providing this along with our commitment to our projects and clients continues to be successful. This has allowed continuous, organic growth into services that compliment Project Management and strengthen our delivery capabilities across all stages of a project. Spider provides Project Management, Development Management, Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services.We pride ourselves on offering highly skilled and specifically qualified Chartered Project Managers; collaboratively working alongside highly qualified Chartered Quantity Surveyors. Giving our clients and projects undiluted access to dedicated specialists in their disciplines! Spider works tirelessly to realise the expectations of our clients by implementing our experience and knowledge to guide stakeholders through the project journey. Dreamland Amusement Park - Margate

Location: Margate Client: Sands Heritage Ltd Project:Theme Park Restoration

Dreamland Amusement Park - Margate Grade II* Listed Scenic Railway & Grade II* Listed Ballroom. Theme Park Restoration Spider provided joint Agent and Project Management services to Thanet District Council and Sands Heritage Ltd. Phase 1 of the Project saw the theme park open as planned and included the launch of the theme park, roller diner, retail outlets and a food court. Phase 2 of the Project saw the delivery of the Grade II* Listed Scenic Railway which is the oldest timber roller coaster in the UK, the refurbishment of a Grade II* Listed Ballroom and Cinema Complex to provide teaching facilities and a 300 seat restau rant.

Most recently Spider have been appointed annually to assist with the reconfiguration works in the park. This has included the addition of a VIP viewing platform with glass balustrade, new toilets, improvement to hard and soft landscaping as well as coordinating the new ride location.

Turner Contemporary Project

Location: Margate Client:Turner Contemporary and Kent County Council Project :Art Gallery Refurbishment and Restoration

Turner Contemporary - Margate Art Gallery Refurbishment & Restoration

Spider acted as the Project Managers on the complex refurbishment of the striking Turner Contemporary. The David Chipperfield designed art gallery sits directly on the seafront and has been a catalyst for enhancement of the surrounding area.The success of the gallery is personified in its incorporation on the £20 note. The success has led to Turner Contemporary requiring a full refurbishment of the public amenities within its confines, including two new commercial kitchens, new sympathetic storage facilities, external lighting design and a new retail offer.

Spider Projects has provided Project Management and Contractor Administration services to Phases 2-4 of the works at Turner Contemporary.

Further to the services Spider provided in the gallery refurbishment, we were delighted to be appointed to manage the replacement of the external cladding system which was successfully completed ahead of programme in 2023. This project required careful planning due to the exposure to the North Sea conditions combined with the importance of complying with the latest fire regulations.

Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Development New build development of Residential & Commercial

Shoreline provides 84 exquisite, high end homes ranging from Town Houses to Duplexes,Apartments and Penthouses.The homes have been built to the highest possible standards of resilience and quality, responding directly to the caustic marine environment and the Clients ambition to provide extremely resilient, low maintenance and long lasting homes. The properties exceed building regulations requirements for sustainability and low ‘in-use’ energy consumption. Shoreline was completed and the units available for purchase in Autumn 2023.

Spider has provided Project Management, Development Management and Contract Administration Services.

F51 World Class Multi-storey Activity Centre

Location: Folkestone, Kent Client: De Haan Charitable Trust & Shepway Sports Trust Project Type: Multi-storey Activity Centre

F51- Folkestone World Class Multi-storey Activity Centre

F51 opened in Spring 2022 as a world class multi-storey activity centre for urban sports in the heart of Folkestone. The centre includes three skate park floors each individually designed to cater for a particular skate style. A climbing and bouldering centre is located in an atrium at first floor level and a boxing club has been given a prominent location on the ground floor. The building includes a café and multi-function room to cater for a wide range of expected events.The centre provides a new home for the Shepway Sports Trust who will operate the building once complete. Spider have been both Project Manager and Contract Administrator throughout this complex project.

The Amelia Scott

Location:Tunbridge Wells, Kent Client:Tunbridge Wells Borough Council Project Type: Grade II Listed Refurbishment

The Amelia Scott - Tunbridge Wells Refurbishment and Extension of a Grade II Listed Museum & Library

Spider acted as the Technical Project Managers on the multi- faceted Grade ll Listed refurbishment and extension to create a new central hub in the town centre. The project received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and includes a brand new temporary exhibition space and the total refurbishment of circa 4,000m 2 of listed building space into a state of the art museum, art gallery, café, library,‘Gateway’ building and Adult Education Centre.

Location: Folkestone, Kent Client: Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Development Company Project Type: Brownfield, Mixed Use, Residential led development Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Development Masterplan

Folkestone Harbour & Seafront Masterplanning

A new build development on reclaimed and brown field land adjacent to the seashore in Folkestone, Kent.The project will manage the delivery of up to 1000 homes & 10,000 sqm of commercial. The regeneration scheme also includes a significant number of public realm and amenity spaces to create a new bustling seafront in the heart of Folkestone. Phase 1 of the project will construct 84 dwellings consisting of a mix of town houses and apartments, with completed units becoming available in Spring 2023. The development has already delivered a number of projects for public benefit: The opening of the Grade II* listed Harbour Viaduct, Harbour Station and Restoration of Customs House. In addition, the Harbour Arm was opened as a visitor attraction in 2016 following extensive restoration.

The Artist Studio

Location: Nr.Ashford, Kent Client: Mr Doodle The Project:The Artist Studio

The Artist Studio- Nr. Ashford A commission for a renowned Kent artist

The Artist Studio is a commission for Mr Doodle, globally renowned Kent based artist. This is to be his private studio and the design is an embodiment of his artwork with the façade a true representation of his art and carefully considered using aluminium bespoke cut pieces. The space will be mostly floor to ceiling full height giving best opportunity for light. The mezzanine will offer an office space which will lead to a roof terrace and surrounding views. We are thrilled to be appointed as Quantity Surveyor on the project.

The Tearoom- Nr. Ashford A commission for a renowned Kent artist The Teahouse is a completely bespoke hosting space, with its design reflective of Asian influence the space will provoke calm for those visiting to enjoy the surrounding landscaping. The unusual building incorporates specialist glass, sedum roof and a specialist sucken tea seating area.

Fostums

Location:Ashford, Kent Client: Private Client Project Type: Bespoke 5 bedroom dwelling

Fostums

Fostums is currently under construction and situated just outside of Ashford.The existing property was demolished in preparation of the new home.This stunning home consists of five large bedrooms, an open terrace at first floor level and open plan living to look out onto landscaped gardens.The design incorporated timber cladding to the exterior, large glazed sliding doors and sedum roof areas. Renewables such as a ground source heat pump and solar panels were proposed to enhance the energy performance and reduce consumption. Spider regularly provide services at all RIBA stages for bespoke homes and we are currently support ing several projects in pre contract cost estimating and also during the construction phases on projects currently in construction across Kent and Sussex.

Castle Square Public Realm Regeneration

Location: Swansea Client: Swansea City Council Project: Public Realm Regeneration

Castle Square, Swansea

Spider have been working closely with Swansea City council, to improve and develop a critical artery through the city, known as Castle Square. The Square is currently under used, poorly maintained and lacks any active uses. Spider were challenged to procure and manage a design team to review the conflicting heritage setting and modernist aspirational future to develop numerous bespoke options for the Council to move into technical design and construction.

Spider are acting as Project Manager, Development Manager and Quantity Surveyor. With construction planned to commence in 2024.
